How to check fuel level without a gauge in Toyota corolla

Does your Toyota Corolla gas gauge fail to go up when you fill up fuel, and your fuel reserve light is still turned on via the dashboard? If you find yourself in this situation, it shouldn’t stop you from driving your car. I will share with you how to check fuel level without a gauge in Toyota corolla so that you’ll be able to drive your car safely without a fuel gauge.

As you wait to have your Toyota Corolla fuel gauge repaired, you’ll need to measure the fuel consumption of your car. So I advise that you consult your car maintenance booklet as it will provide you with the average fuel liters that are expected to be consumed per 100 km.

Normally, you should be able to drive your vehicle at a minimum of 400 km whenever your tank is full, that’s for a small tank. In comparison to a bigger tank, you’ll drive 600 km or more kilometers if you have a 50-liter tank.

You should ensure you take the number of the odometer that shows on your console whenever you fill up the tank of your car at a petrol station.

Once done, add up your estimated number of kilometers of range. And after that, you’ll have an idea of when to refill your Toyota Corolla fuel tank. But note that you need to be careful because this depends on your riding habit.

How do I know how much gas I have left in my car?

You need to examine the lines you see on the gas gauge as it represents your gas tank’s fuel level, which goes with the increments of 1/4th.

Once you notice it to be between 2 lines, that means it’s an eight. Whenever the needle goes between 1/2 and 3/4, it simply means that you have about 5/8 of gas in your tank.

But note, modern cars have a lower fuel light that indicates and most times comes with better technology that shows you how many miles you can drive before running out of fuel.

Car manufacturers designed fuel tanks to reserve around a gallon (3.8 liters) above the empty line.

This is because people procrastinate to top up gas in their vehicles, and they warn drivers about having low fuel even before the vehicle runs out of fuel.

The manufacturer has to warn drivers, as running out of gas in your vehicle can cause a crash, damage expensive components, or even leave you stranded while driving on the road.

Let’s say, for instance, your gas tank contains 20 gallons of gas, while your gauge read about 1/2, which means there are 10 gallons of gas in your tank. Then if you drive 30 miles to a gallon, it simply shows that you’ll be able to drive for about 300 miles for 10 gallons of gas on your tank.

Here’s a warning: To drive your car with an empty tank or lower fuel can cause expensive damage to your car or even lead to a crash.

Knowing your gas levels is important to avoid being stranded on the road. Driving your car with an empty tank or lower fuel can cause expensive damage to your car or even lead to a crash.

For lots of drivers, it can become worrisome when the fuel gauge suddenly stops working. But before you get your gauge fixed or replaced, here are 3 on how to check how much gas you have with a broken fuel gauge.

1. Observe Your Driver’s Manual

Examine your driver’s manual to see how much your vehicle’s gas tank can contain. Note that small cars normally contain about 12 to 15 gallons of fuel, while big cars contain about 18 to 20.

However, in case there’s no manual, then you can check a blue book to find information about your car model specifications. Though it depends on your gas mileage, it is normal for cars to get between 350 to 400 miles when filled with gas.

2. By Observing the Odometer

Observe the odometer to find out how many miles you can drive when you have a full tank. Whenever you get close to about 300 miles while traveling, make sure to fill up gas to prevent running out of gas.

3. Using Dipstick

Some years back, there’s a way to check the fuel level in the tank, and this is via the use of a dipstick. Surprised right? I learned this from my dad back then.

This can be done, but this has been eliminated due to the design of modern cars as they now come with a fuel float mechanism that supports the sending unit.

You can examine the fuel level in your tank via the use of a dipstick. All you have to do is to insert the dipstick into your fuel tank and then remove it. This dipstick will show you how much fuel that’s left in the tank.

However, in case you’re concerned about your vehicle’s fuel gauge not reading fuel level properly, then you should get it fixed.
