3 WORST Chevrolet Cars NOT to Buy and 4 Best Chevrolet Cars You Should Buy In 2024

3 Worst Chevrolet Cars to Avoid & 4 Best Chevy Models Worth Buying in 2024

This is if won’t save yourself from buying the WORST Chevrolet Cars  and then we will go through the 4 Best Chevrolet Cars You Should Buy In 2024

Imagine being at the dealership and looking for the perfect Chevrolet toward the end of this year that will last for many years to come, but you are confused as to which of the Chevrolet models will stand the test of time that is best for you.

Before you choose, what if I told you that there are three popular Chevrolet models you might be considering right now that are a real disaster in today’s Auto market and you should stay away from them?

Yes, I know choosing the right car can be quite a challenge especially when you’re dealing with a widely known brand with as many options as Chevrolet which is why, we conducted this thorough analysis based on expert opinions, real consumer reviews, and reports to help you make an informed decision.

In this article, we are looking at three Chevrolet models that we want you to stay away from this year. Our decision is based on the fact that they showed the most common failure rate, had the most negative reviews, and did not meet lots of customer expectations as promised.

And since it would not be kind of us to leave you with only the bad news, AKA, the bad Chevrolet option; we went ahead to research and analyze four additional excellent Chevrolet options that stand out for their quality, safety, and value for money you should choose from.

3 Worst Chevrolet Cars Not to Buy

No. 1 – The Chevrolet Camaro

The first car we analyze which we are talking about in this article is, none other than the Chevrolet Camaro.

Although the Chevrolet Camaro is widely admired for its performance on the track, it has way more significant shortcomings that make it a questionable choice for everyday use which is why we consider it a bad choice for you.

Let’s not even talk about the fact that, its price point of about $30,900 is not the lowest on the market, you find better vehicles for less.

For starters, the interior of the Camaro is disappointing, the visibility outward is quite limited due to the fact the driver’s seat is positioned too low and then the small windows, making it difficult to drive safely, especially in city traffic and during parking.

I will simply say that the rear seats are virtually useless for adults; the space is so small that small kids can hardly fit in and be well accommodated.

The trunk of the Chevrolet Camaro is also small, with cargo capacity limited to just 9.3 cubic feet on coupe models and even less on convertibles.

Its access is tricky due to how small the openings are and the raised trunk edge height too.

Well, if these things don’t matter to you, go ahead, this could be your car but for us, they do and we thought you could do better.

The Camaro lineup starts with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque.

A six-speed manual transmission is included as standard, but a 10-speed automatic transmission is also available as an option.

Both settings allow it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.0 seconds. Despite these incredible Camaro performances, that still doesn’t make up for its high fuel consumption.

3 WORST Chevrolet Cars NOT to Buy and 4 Best Chevrolet Cars You Should Buy In 2024

With the V6 engine, EPA ratings are 18 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway with an automatic transmission, which is already in our opinion, mediocre.

Now, you may think that the V8 models might be better right? Well, let me burst your bubble,  the Camaro versions with the V8 engine are even worse, with ratings of 16 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway with a manual transmission.

And the supercharged versions drop even further, reaching just 13 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway.

This translates into high fuel costs and a significant damaging environmental footprint, which makes it clear that despite good engine performance this car is not a good option to buy.

No. 2 – Chevrolet Malibu

Coming in second place on our list of worst Chevrolet Cars Not to Buy, is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu put at a price of $24,700 dollars.

Although the Chevrolet Malibu has conservative styling and a clean interior, it also has several other significant disadvantages or cons that make it an unrecommended choice for us.

And so, we will say; just don’t buy don’t buy them except if the following cons do not matter to you.

First, for us, the overall design is just uninspiring and the infotainment system, while being easy to use, stilldoes not make up for its lack of excitement when driving likewise the interior design as well.

The 2024 Chevrolet Malibu is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.

Though the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) provides a smooth ride, the engine is considerably less powerful than most of its competitors from our analysis.

Also, though the EPA ratings reach up to 36 MPG on the highway and 32 MPG combined, this is lower when compared to the hybrid options like the Toyota Corolla, which gives a combined fuel consumption of 40.4 MPG with a base price of 23,500 dollars.

This goes to show that the Malibu doesn’t stand out in comparison to the Corolla when you talk about price and fuel consumption.

On the other hand, we will not fail to acknowledge that the 2024 Malibu has a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA, which is a good thing to note.

However, the IIHS gave the 2024 model mixed ratings, including a troubling moderate rating in the frontal crash test with little overlap.

Additionally, the adaptive 2024 Malibu cruise control is only available on the 2LT model which requires an extracost, thereby further limiting the advanced safety options available.

Finally, consumers’ and drivers’ comments regarding the Malibu are really not nice and are quite unflattering.

With many stating that the vehicle is underpowered and that the CVT transmission makes it feel unreliable and strange to drive.

The lack of power and unsatisfying driving experience make the Malibu an unappealing option for those looking for a more dynamic and reliable driving experience. Moving on to the third worst Chevrolet Cars this year we have is the

3 WORST Chevrolet Cars NOT to Buy and 4 Best Chevrolet Cars You Should Buy In 2024

Number 3 – the Chevrolet Silverado

Finally, we have the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, which, believe it or not, enters this top three of those that you should definitely not buy.

This is a large and powerful truck, but it has several drawbacks that make it a bad choice for buyers.

Starting at $45,600, the Silverado 2500HD is considerably expensive.

This cost is further increased if you opt for the turbo diesel engine or the higher-end versions that offer genuine leather and elegant wood trim.

This hefty price tag can be hard to justify given the other problems the truck presents, starting with the worst fuel economy.

One of the biggest issues of the Silverado 2500HD is its base 6.6L V8 engine that makes 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

But this is not the important thing. Although exact fuel economy figures have not been provided, these trucks are too heavy to qualify for EPA testing.

Fuel consumption is estimated to be around 14 to 15 MPG when driving mixed with turbo diesel.

This level of consumption is extremely inefficient, which translates into high operating costs in the long run.

If money is not an issue, this probably should not be an issue nor should it matter to you.

Although the Silverado 2500HD is large and rugged, it doesn’t highlight the advanced safety features that are standard on many other modern vehicles.

The truck has not been extensively evaluated by the IIHS or NHTSA, leaving questions about its crash test performance and its ability to protect occupants in the event of an accident.

In addition, the lack of advanced safety features, such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and other driver assistance systems, is a significant disadvantage.

Other negatives include size and weight which make it difficult to handle in urban and narrow roads or environments.

Its hood, which is about 5 ft off the ground, and its bulky design make visibility and maneuverability difficult.

Although the interior of the high-end models is comfortable and well-designed, the basic models have a simple dashboard with a touchscreen of only 7.0 inches.

Drivers have pointed out that while the Silverado 2500HD is capable and powerful, it’s not an exciting or practical option for everyday use. Plus, several of them reported malfunctions and endless trips to the mechanic.

Now that we’ve seen the worst Chevrolet Cars, let’s continue with the best Chevrolet options.

Talking of one of the best Chevrolet cars, the Chevrolet Trailblazer stands out as an exceptional choice for those looking for a versatile, affordable, and subcompact SUV with great performance.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer is priced at $23,100 and rated 8/10 according to Edmund’s expert analysis, it offers excellent value for money thanks to its modern features, convenience, and efficiency.

The 2024 model, has been redesigned to offer a more comfortable and practical interior with a new screen design.

This now has an 8-inch screen behind the steering wheel with configurable digital gauges and an impressive 11-inch widescreen infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard.

These improvements facilitate access to information and entertainment, improving the driving experience.

The Trailblazer offers two turbocharged three-cylinder engine options. The standard 1.2 Liter 137-horsepower engine is efficient, but we will recommend that you go for the 155-horsepower 1.3 Liter engine for better power and performance.

Though the Chevrolet Trailblazer is not the most powerful SUV in its class, the Trailblazer handles well and good in a variety of conditions since it offers optional all-wheel drive for added safety and stability.

From our analysis, the Trailblazer might not be the most efficient or best-performing vehicle in its class, but it is extremely competent at almost everything it does.

This overall competence puts it a step ahead in the extra small SUV class, offering a balanced combination of comfort, features, and safety.

Number 2 – The Chevrolet Trax

The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is one that stands out as a perfect choice if you looking for a small SUV with great value for your money’s worth.

We consider this price tag of $20,400 very affordable and it has a 7.9 out of 10 rating given by Edmunds, the Trax combines space, comfort, and modern features in an affordable package.

The new Trax is more spacious than its predecessors, offering plenty of space in both the front and rear rows.

With much room, four adults can travel comfortably without squishing or compromising leg their space.

Also, the Trax’s cargo area is quite large for its class at 25.6 cubic feet, which outperforms many competitors and provides enough space for a weekend getaway or everyday shopping.

Under the car hood, this Trax features a 1.2-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that produces 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque.

Its engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission which transmits power to the front wheels.

Although the Chevrolet Trax is not the fastest SUV, but its acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 8 seconds is enough for most everyday driving situations.

Additionally, the turbo engine offers good torque at low revs, making it easier to drive in the city.

It has an impressive fuel economy with an EPA rating of 28 MPG on City 32 Highway and 30

combined, which makes it an excellent economical subcompact SUV for those looking to

reduce their fuel expenses.

The Trax also comes with lots of other standard features, including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As well as essential safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and active cruise control.

Drivers praise the 2024 Chevrolet Trax for its solid balance between comfort and performance. Many highlight its generous interior space, ease of handling, and quiet ride.

Number 3 – The Chevrolet Colorado

Next on our list here on the best Chevrolet cars and vehicles to buy this year is the Chevrolet Colorado which we find to be an outstanding option in the midsize truck category.

It combines modern technology and advanced safety features, and from our analysis, offers excellent value forthe money’s worth.

The Colorado, priced at 29,000 dollars and rated 9 out of 10 by Car and Driver, offers quite an impressive combination of both capabilities and advanced electronic and safety features at a reasonable price.

The base model of Colorado comes with an 8-inch touchscreen with the Chevrolet Infotainment system, thatsupports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly.

Additionally, it has higher trim levels, such as the ZR two, and can feature an 11.3-inch display, providing an advanced technological experience.

The Colorado is available with a turbocharged 2.7Liter, a 4-cylinder engine that delivers 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

This engine, along with an 8-speed automatic transmission, allows the 2024 Colorado truck to reach 60 mph in around 8 seconds, offering solid performance for most daily driving needs.

Models with the 310 HP engine, which is available on the ZR2 and can be added to other trims, increase power to 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, with a towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds, which is ideal for those who need robust towing capabilities.

When it comes to security, it has a solid reputation.

Although it received an overall 4-star rating from the NHTSA, the Colorado is well-equipped with standard safety features, including

  • automatic emergency braking,
  • active lane control,
  • and automatic high beams.

Blind-spot monitors and rear parking sensors are available, offering additional peace of mind for the driver.

Additionally, the off-road-focused Bison edition of the Colorado ZR2 adds enhanced capabilities for off-road adventures.

According to Car and Driver, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado is considered to be a highly capable and modern pickup truck in the competitive midsize truck market.

With its new design, advanced technological features, and robust powertrain features, the Colorado offers one of the best values for money in its category.

Number  4 – The Chevrolet Equinox

Finally, we have the Chevrolet Equinox, a solid option not only for the brand but also in the compact SUV segment, offering a combination of comfort, technology, and good value for money.

At a price of 26,600 dollars, the Equinox is an excellent choice for those looking for a practical and well-equipped SUV without breaking the bank.

It provides a spacious and comfortable interior, ideal for families or those who need extra space for their daily activities.

Seating up to five passengers, the Equinox offers enough space in both rows of seats for four adults to ride comfortably.

Cargo capacity is also remarkable for its class, with 29.9 cubic feet available behind the second row and up to 63.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.

This versatile space makes it suitable for all kinds of tasks, from long trips to everyday shopping.

It’s also well-equipped with modern tech features, including a 7-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

On the other hand, it includes active lane control and automatic high beams, offering a solid driver assistance base.

Despite its somewhat dated design compared to its more recent competitors, the Equinox still offers essential safety features like automatic emergency braking, which contributes to its five-star rating in NHTSA crash tests.

The Equinox’s 1.5 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, providing enough power for reliable city and highway driving.

Its six-speed automatic transmission is efficient and provides smooth shifting, although some rivals have more gears.

In terms of its fuel efficiency, the front-wheel-drive Equinox delivers an efficient 26 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway, while the all-wheel-drive model has an efficiency of 24/30 MPG.

Despite being the end of the current generation, Equinox is still a very good choice for its competitive price and alongside the features it offers as a package.

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox model represents a good opportunity to take advantage of lower prices before the 2025 redesign arrives, which will bring new design and technology updates but of course, will come at a higher cost.
